So true Christine! I also use art and music to help with strong emotions and feelings.

My husband was diagnosed with metastatic throat cancer early this year. I have made several, "dark" paintings and posted them to my personal Facebook that only my family sees.

My brother called me to say he was worried by my "morbid" art. I told him it's how I process my feelings. Have to get them out somehow. My daughters understand me though, nine of them were alarmed.

I’m so sorry to hear about that diagnosis. That must be so hard. For both of you. And yes! That is exactly what I am talking about with your son saying he’s worried about you because of your dark paintings. It’s a way of processing! And yes, it’s dark, but it gets it out and isn’t that better than keeping it in? I’m so glad you have painting to be that release for you as well ❤️

Such a great post. It always helps to be reminded of how powerful art is.

You sharing this processing of your emotions in turn helps others process, because it gives words and images for them to help make sense of it.

Wishing you the best on your journey with IVF. It certainly is not an easy one and you are very brave to embark on it.

Thank you, Gráinne! Other people sharing their struggles through art and comics have helped me over the years, so it’s nice to think mine might be giving back to that somehow too. ❤️
