š If youāre new here: I started MCDT in 2016 and through its various iterations, it has spurred the creation of over 20,000 pieces of art by hundreds of artists from around the world! A new art prompt is delivered every Monday and you have the week to draw from that theme however you choose.

š® Nintendober Recap!
We did it! Nintendober, and all other October drawing challenges end today, and whether you drew once a day, once a week, or even just once this month, letās celebrate!
There were some ups and downs creatively, but Iām quite proud of how much I drew this monthāit was a definite increase over the past few months. Which is the whole point of these October drawing challengesāto rekindle our creative spirits!
I managed to squeak past the finish line with all 31 Nintendo characters drawn by today! Hereās what I ended up with:
As you can see, two of the characters, Marth and Pit, are sketch outlines and not colored or finished. I just wasnāt into those two characters and didnāt feel like spending more time on them. I was more excited to move on to Wario and Diddy Kong, and I think itās obvious I had more fun with those!
To me, this is why sketchbook drawing is so important to our creativityāIām not drawing these things to sell or to please a client or even to show off to anyone. Iām just drawing them because I want to, and so if I donāt want to spend an hour on a character I donāt like⦠then I donāt!
Your sketchbook is where you are in control and everything is up to you. Itās all about drawing what you want, drawing how you want, and having fun!
We all need a space for that, donāt we?
āļø This Weekās Theme
Week #196:Ā Oct. 31āNov. 6, 2022
Theme:Ā Parrots!
Feel free to give yourself a break after the intensity of a month-long drawing series. It can be a lot! If you need to not draw for a day or so to rest, that is totally ok. Think of it like athletic challengesārunners take breaks after big races, right? So why shouldnāt we?
However, itās a fine line between taking a break and losing any creative momentum we gained during October. So take a day or so, but try to squeeze out at least one drawing this week to keep up the strength youāve built in those creative muscles!
Our theme this week is parrots, so letās have fun drawing bright colors and textured feathers!
