Welcome to Week #197 of Might Could Draw Today (MCDT)! I’m here to invite you to draw with me today!
👋 If you’re new here: I started MCDT in 2016 and through its various iterations, it has spurred the creation of over 20,000 pieces of art by hundreds of artists from around the world! A new art prompt is delivered every Monday and you have the week to draw from that theme however you choose.
Here’s where we’re goin’ today:

Let’s go!
💙 New Class
First, I wanted to let you know that my new Skillshare class, Therapeutic Art: Grounding by Drawing, is now live!
We all feel troubled by life and full of stress from time to time. Luckily, there are strategies called grounding techniques—tools to help us self-regulate and reconnect with the present moment. They help ground us in the here and now. In this class, I’ll be sharing my own grounding technique I call Grounding by Drawing.
This class is for artists, creatives, and visual thinkers who are looking for a way to use your art to deal with stress, regulate your emotions, and be more present in your life.
Grounding by Drawing allows me to stay steady during stress and intense emotions, and I hope that through this class, maybe drawing can help you do that too!
✏️ This Week’s Theme
Week #197: Nov. 7–13, 2022
Theme: Maneki-Neko
This week’s theme is the maneki-neko, a Japanese figurine made of ceramic or plastic, believed to bring good luck! Maneki-neko means “beckoning cat” in Japanese and is usually a cat with a bobtail, paw raised, sometimes able to gently sway back and forth.
Some maneki-nekos are white, some gold, and some are fully painted. Some are stylistic and almost cartoonish, while others are more realistic.
So let’s look up some Maneki-neko and draw our own!
Thanks for drawing with me again this week and I hope to see you in the new class!

Christine
