Welcome to Week #190 of Might Could Draw Today (MCDT)! I’m here to dish out some sweet, sweet inspiration and gentle encouragement for us all to draw this week.
👋 If you’re new here: I started MCDT in 2016 and through its various iterations, it has spurred the creation of over 20,000 pieces of art by hundreds of artists from around the world! A new art prompt is delivered every Monday and you have the week to draw from that theme however you choose.
Here’s where we’re goin’ today:

1️⃣ This Week’s Theme
Week #190: Sept. 19–25, 2022
Theme: Candy Land 🍭
Sometimes don’t you just feel done with being an adult? One of the best things about drawing is that we can carve out a little time away from jobs, responsibilities, to-do lists, and schedules. We can return to that sense of fun and joy that we felt so often as kids.
And so this week, I thought: Why not kick that sense of child-like joy up a notch?
My daughter Butterbean is almost 3 years old and she has the biggest sweet tooth. Her eyes light up and the room fills with joyous squeals whenever she even thinks of candy. (If you’ve read the book Betty Bunny Loves Chocolate Cake—that is Butterbean.) So I was thinking about candy and I was thinking of joy and my own childhood, and all these dots connected to Candy Land!

The images I’ve included here are from the 1984 Candy Land board game which this Etsy listing titles: “Vintage Original Candy Land Milton Bradley Board Game”. Um, so am I at the age where the things I played with as a child are now called Vintage? When did that happen? Am I old now!?
Oh well. We drew for fun when we were kids—let’s keep on drawing for fun now!
Share your art with us!
And why not share what you draw with us in our private artist community, Might Could Studiomates? It’s a heck of a lot friendlier and more supportive and uplifting than Instagram. We’d love to see what you come up with!
2️⃣ Artwork Spotlight
This week’s featured Artwork Spotlight is this creative process drawing by Craig Austin! I love this idea and can totally relate to this inner thought process and feeling! I also wanted to share a little snippet of what Craig wrote about the above drawing:
“Very few ideas imagined make to the finished product. Some may be 'saved for later' and still never be realized. Some may never even be further considered Though, I guess, an idea, once imagined, can recalled at any time. And, thus, can never be fully forgotten.”
–Craig Austin
So on point! Craig drew many different versions of himself and other artists drawing this week and there were so many other inspiring contributions from last week’s prompt—you can see them all inside Studiomates!
Thank you for sharing your art and insights with us, Craig!
