Welcome to Week #189 of Might Could Draw Today (MCDT)! I’m here to dish out some sweet, sweet inspiration and gentle encouragement for us all to draw this week.
If you’re new here: I started MCDT in 2016 and through its various iterations, it has spurred the creation of over 20,000 pieces of art by hundreds of artists from around the world! A new art prompt is delivered every Monday and you have the week to draw from that theme however you choose. Here’s what’s happening in here today:

Now let’s go!
1️⃣ This Week’s Theme
Week #189: Sept. 12–18, 2022
Theme: Artists Drawing
Don’t know what to draw? What about drawing yourself drawing? Or if you prefer, what about drawing another artist drawing? We’ll be artists drawing artists drawing! So meta!
I like this prompt because not only do I believe drawing yourself leads to interesting discoveries about yourself, but it’s also a way to transform an obstacle into an asset.
Sometimes the act of drawing feels transcendent—as if we are levitating in the air, totally in the present moment, completely in the artistic zone.
But other times the act of drawing feels impossibly frustrating—as if we are a heavy sack of bones, distracted and anxious, unsure of why we try to draw at all.
These highs and lows are just a normal part of the creative cycle. But I’m suggesting we can take those high and low points and make something out of them. Don’t feel like drawing today? Draw yourself with your big heavy head on your desk not drawing! Just like drawing my moods, I find this exercise very therapeutic.
Instead of letting the frustrating times keep us from drawing or grasping for the transcendent times desperate for them to appear every time we draw, we can just accept the full creative cycle. We can work with it all. And draw it all.
Share your art with us!
C’mon, give it a try! And why not share what you draw with us in our private artist community, Might Could Studiomates? It’s a heck of a lot friendlier and more supportive and uplifting than Instagram. We’d love to see what you come up with!
2️⃣ Artwork Spotlight
This week’s featured Artwork Spotlight is this awesome Hilda fan art by Clint Johnson! We had so much amazing Hilda art shared last week in Studiomates and I looooooved seeing these characters drawn in so many different styles. Way to take a character and run with it and reimagine it in your own style, Clint! You can see more of Clint’s work here on his Twitter profile.
Thank you for sharing your art with us, Clint!
