I can hardly believe it y’all, but after 2.5 years of work and a big push at the end, We Are Jellyfish is finally published and available for purchase!

About the Book

This book is the second installment in my We Are… series: a series of picture books to explore the wonders of the weird, creepy, and overlooked organisms of the living world. From fungi to jellyfish and beyond, spark your curiosity and peer into forgotten, unknown worlds. Told from the perspective of the subject, these books skew nonfiction with facts and glossaries but also add in a touch of mystery and a dab of spookiness.

We Are Jellyfish is told from the perspective of jellyfish, who share factually accurate details about themselves—what they eat, how they hunt, and how they live in the world. However, along for the ride is a young scuba diver who is a self-proclaimed “jellyfish expert” and wishes to tell the story of jellyfish herself. As they travel deeper into the ocean depths, will she finally learn to listen to the mysteries of the deep sea? Weird things begin to happen as the waters get colder, darker, and the jellyfish reveal their powerful techniques of survival.

The Making of This Book

I shared the entire process of creating this book as I made it here on my Substack. Over 2.5 years, this book went from idea to sketches, manuscripts, storyboards, final art spreads, and completed book with more than 40 process posts along the way.
